About this course

Our teenage students are being placed into a group according to their levels of English. We usually have two to eight different level groups depending on student numbers. Keen Teens courses are General English courses focusing on topics relating to this age group. Students are given opportunities to learn about Ireland, its history, people, culture and tradition throughout the course. Elements of Cambridge exam preparation are included in the course.

The main focus of our Keen Teens courses is on conversation practice. It is important to us that our young learners gain confidence in using the English language and that they enjoy it.

Teenagers aged 11 to 17 may book our Full Immersion Easter– or Summer Teen Programme. This language package included Airport transfers, Keen Teens Course, Full Board Host Family Accommodation, 4 Afternoon and 2 Evening Activities (summer only) per week, a trip on Saturdays, and a designated group monitor.

Please contact us for further details on our Packages for Teenagers.

The schedule of the courses for all family members are coordinated so that you are all in class at the same time and may meet up at break times.

  • Mondays to Fridays 9.30 to 12.45 (including a 15 min coffee break from 11.00 to 11.15)
  • GE Group Courses for adults and Cool Kids Courses take place in our main school building.
  • Our Keen Teens Courses take place in a local secondary school situated just around the corner from our main school building.
  • Optional Afternoon Activities take place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons. Optional daytrips take place on Saturdays.

Can I have some information on the Academic Programme?

Innovative – Interactive – Engaging

Our Keen Teens Courses have been designed as highly communicative English Language Programmes in which students can expect to practise their language communication skills, using a range of language and covering a wide range of topics through a variety of innovative, interactive, and engaging lessons.

No course book is used in our lessons and though it will be integrated, no particular focus is made on grammar. Instead, a variety of conversation and vocabulary games and activities, project topics, video, and audio resources, as well as authentic materials have been carefully selected to create original and fun lessons aimed at young learners.

The focus in our lessons in on Speaking and Listening but there will be opportunities for reading and writing embedded in the activities. Lessons are tailored towards the needs of teenage language learners of today.

We aim to ensure they gain sufficient skills and opportunities to express themselves on the most common and essential topics in which it is expected of them to do so and to gain some essential 21st century skills such as communication, critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and of course, collaboration.

We believe this new programme will allow them to enjoy the language-learning process, will enable them to review and build upon their overall knowledge, and ensure they can progress in English by gaining greater fluency, accuracy, and confidence.
